Increased academic rigor combined with difficult academic language demands may create many challenges for language learners. English language instruction, conducted by a certified ELL teacher, is facilitated through a push-in model in a mainstream classroom or in an ELL classroom located in the school. The focus of ELL service is to assist students in achieving academic and social language proficiency. \u00a0Explicit language instruction in listening, speaking, reading, and writing will allow ELL students to be successful and fully participate in all aspects of school life.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Our job is to support students who speak and\/or understand multiple languages. We believe bilingualism is a huge asset to these students, but sometimes they need a little support to do their very best in school, and that&#8217;s where we come in. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We both teach elective classes to help students improve their English with practice in reading, writing, speaking, and listening. \u00a0Students can also get extra help from us during Resource time with their classwork in their content area classes (Science, Social Studies, Math, and English). \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-365 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.kusd.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2017\/10\/1129364.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"175\" height=\"263\" \/>Ms. Wright has been teac<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">hing ELL students at Washington for the past 18 years. She received her teaching degree from UW Parkside and her masters in Curriculum and Instruction from U.W. Whitewater.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Soccer is her favorite sport and she&#8217;s been the soccer coach at WMS for seven years. She<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0enjoys spending time with her family and dogs.
