{"id":461,"date":"2017-11-22T17:20:14","date_gmt":"2017-11-22T17:20:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.kusd.edu\/washington-staging\/?page_id=461"},"modified":"2017-11-22T17:20:14","modified_gmt":"2017-11-22T17:20:14","slug":"access-test","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.kusd.edu\/washington\/parents\/access-test\/","title":{"rendered":"ACCESS Test"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">An English language proficiency test <strong>A<\/strong>ssessing <strong>C<\/strong>omprehension and <strong>C<\/strong>ommunications in <strong>E<\/strong>nglish <strong>S<\/strong>tate to <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>S<\/strong>tate for <strong>E<\/strong>nglish <strong>L<\/strong>anguage <strong>L<\/strong>earners (ACCESS for ELLs), will be administered to all English language <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">learners (ELLs) enrolled in Maine schools. This test will be the required assessment instrument for <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">determining the proficiency levels and progress of ELLs throughout Maine. ACCESS for ELLs is aligned to <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">the content standards of English language proficiency standards including Maine&#8217;s Learning Results and <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">the Common Core.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pursuant to the federal No Child Left Behind Act of 2001, schools are required to annually assess the <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">English language proficiency of their English Language Learners (ELLs);legally referred to as Limited <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">English Proficient (LEP) students in kindergarten through grade 12 using a standards instrument that is <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">common throughout the state.
