Free and Reduced Price Meals

KUSD participates in the Community Eligibility Program (CEP) at select schools across the district. CEP allows eligible schools to provide healthy breakfast and lunch meals to all students at no charge each school day.

Schools not participating in CEP may still offer free or reduced-price meals to students who qualify based on household income through the Free and Reduced Meal Application process.

What is the Community Eligibility Program?

The Community Eligibility Program (CEP) is a federally funded meal program that allows eligible schools to serve free breakfast and lunch to all enrolled students without requiring families to complete a meal application for meal benefits..

Free and Reduced Meal Applications

All families are encouraged to on or after July 1 each year, regardless of whether their child attends a CEP or non-CEP school. Families must reapply annually because applications expire in mid-October.

Completing a Free and Reduced Meal Application may help families and schools qualify for additional benefits, including:

  • Free or reduced-price meals at non-CEP schools
  • Title I funding support, which helps schools provide additional academic services, instructional support, and resources for students
  • Wisconsin School Day Milk (Pre-K/Kindergarten snack milk)
  • Athletics fee waivers
  • Fine arts fee waivers
  • Advanced Placement (AP) testing fee waivers
